The Astronomer
Short Film
The Astronomer represents my finest work.
This film is very close to my heart and making it is one of the hardest things I have ever done. The Astronomer is based on both a poem by Walt Whitman called “When I heard the Learn’d Astronomer,” and a dream I had while visiting places in London where my ancestors lived. I dreamt I became the entire forest, and wanted to create a film that embodies that oneness and divinity. I am thankful for the cast and crew who so willingly volunteered and helped out to create such a wonderful project.

Production
In one word, production for The Astronomer was freezing. We filmed in weather as low as 10ºF with snow and wind hindering the crew. But we pushed on because we believed in what we were doing.
Each shooting day came with it’s own challenges, but because of those challenges the crew and cast have created connections and working relationships that extend past The Astronomer.
